2020 Youth Season Cancelled

Dear North Shore Inline Youth League,

I hope this letter finds you all safe, healthy, and at home with the love and support of family during this difficult time. The board and I met this past weekend, and as an organization we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 youth Inline Hockey season. (For the adult league, please watch for separate updates at nsihla.com/news) With the community centers closed and knowing the restrictions that are in place in our community, we could not see any situation where we could safely and logistically make the season work.

As I sat down last night to write this letter the little boy in me was bummed that it had come to this point, but I wrote it knowing that it was the right time and thing to do. For those of you that I have gotten to know over the years, you know that this is normally my favorite time of year…The floor is going in and the dressing rooms still smell relatively good, teams are getting made and Iggy can be found wandering around the arena or with his head buried in a big pile of gear. It puts a smile on my face just thinking about it.

Let me assure you that the board is as disappointed as you are, and our goal is to make sure that we save all of our great ideas and plans to make the 2021 season our best one yet. Over the next few days, we will begin the reimbursement process. Our plan is to try and make this as smooth as possible but I will also ask for your patience as we work through it.

Should you have any questions, please reach out to the registrar or myself and we will try and respond back as promptly as possible.

Stay safe and healthy, we look forward to seeing you all next year out on the floor.

John Bear
