Former NSIHL player Jake Christiansen signs with Columbus Blue Jackets

Congratulations to longtime NSIHL and Canada Inline player Jake Christiansen on his recent signing of a 3-year entry level contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets of the NHL beginning with the 2020-21 season.

A native of West Vancouver, Jake played Peewee and Bantam Comp in our league, as well as being a member of our tournament team, the North Shore Zulu, for a number of years. In 2016, Jake played for Team Canada Jr. Men’s at the FIRS Roller hockey world championships in Asiago, Italy.

Now a member of the Everett Silvertips in the Western Hockey League, Christiansen, 20, has registered 20 goals and 27 assists for 47 points with 35 penalty minutes, seven power play goals and a +27 plus/minus rating in 35 games this season. He leads league defensemen in goals and points-per-game (1.34) and ranks third in power play goals and ninth-T in points. The 6-1, 190-pound blueliner also made his professional debut at the beginning of the campaign, skating in nine contests with the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League.

Christiansen has recorded 48-101-149 with 114 penalty minutes and a cumulative +82 plus/minus rating in 294 career WHL outings with the Silvertips since making his debut in 2015-16. In 2018-19, he set a career high in assists with 12-32-44 in 67 appearances with Everett. He played in all 72 contests for the club in both 2016-17 and 2017-18.
